Holiday flats with swimming pool in the hills above Tropea. Just a stone’s throw from Tropea, you can spend your holiday in the middle of the greenery with a view of the sea. Surrounded by a large garden with a pool, fruit and olive trees and many flowers, you will find the 7 pretty holiday flats.
Villa Garden” is located on the outskirts of Gasponi, an original Calabrian village where you can enjoy absolute tranquillity, good air and wonderful views of the Tyrrhenian coast while walking through nature during your holiday. Here you will experience film sets ripe of southern Italy, as if time had stood still: old, friendly villagers dressed in black, the morning and evening ringing of the village church, chirping birds, stray cats and dogs, goats, sheep and ponies in the surrounding meadows and always: peace, peace, peace.
To Tropea, Calabria’s most popular holiday resort, you can walk along a small road, partly even with a footpath (about 30 minutes downhill, …uphill then unfortunately very steep and arduous and takes accordingly longer, about 45 minutes). By car it is really only a stone’s throw (5 minutes to Tropea, about 10 minutes to the beach). Wonderful sandy beaches and colourful old town life with lots of restaurants, cafés and shops await you here.
The Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria is famous for its beautiful bays with white sandy beaches for sunbathing and swimming. A holiday with children is particularly suitable in this area, as the water is of the most wonderful quality and the sandy beaches are ideal for the little ones to play on. For water sports enthusiasts, there is the possibility of surfing, sailing, diving or even small excursions by boat along the coast that drops steeply into the sea.
In the port of Tropea there are several agencies that offer day trips to the Lipari Islands. A highlight here is certainly a visit to Stromboli, one of the few still active volcanoes on this earth. You can watch the volcano erupt from the ship at the onset of darkness. Red spraying lava sparkles in the sky, and goosebumps are guaranteed at this natural spectacle!
For history buffs, a must is a trip to Reggio Calabria, where you can admire the world-famous, life-size bronze statues of Riace in the National Museum. Reggio Calabria is a wonderful place to shop to your heart’s content on the typical Italian shopping street “Il Corso”. Other worthwhile destinations are Pizzo and Scilla or, on the Ionian coast, the pretty town of Gerace and Stilo with the famous Byzantine church of the “Cattolica”.
At the edge of the village of Gasponi lies the small, quiet paradise “Villa Garden” for holidaymakers seeking relaxation and nature away from mass tourism. The stables that originally belonged to the farm were first converted into 7 pretty holiday flats with a pool in 2006/10. In the last 10 years, the complex has been lovingly maintained, the details have been improved again and again and another 4 flats have been added. The complex is run by Vincenzo, the eldest son of the family. In the meantime, he can proudly look back on numerous regular guests who gladly come back every year. A building on the edge of the grounds has been converted into a small family-run trattoria, so that since 2018 it has been possible not only to rent holiday flats, but also to book the comfort of b&b or half board. Prices on request. You can choose from flats of different sizes, from small monolocals with double bed, kitchenette and bathroom, to several flats with one or two bedrooms, to one flat with three bedrooms.
All flats have satellite TV, a kitchen with gas cooker and refrigerator and bathroom with shower. The approx. 20,000 m² estate is beautifully situated on a hill overlooking a large part of the coast and the sea. Nestled in the green hills and close to a river valley, the hot temperatures here are easily bearable even in high summer. In the evenings there is almost always a fresh breeze and the nights are pleasantly cool. The houses are well insulated against heat and coolness due to their very thick walls and double-glazed windows. The small complex includes a swimming pool with sun loungers, a lawn with slide and swing for the younger guests, a viewing area with tables and benches for romantic sunset lingering and two
communal barbecue areas. Two washing machines and car parking spaces are at your disposal. All this is included in the price. Before moving to Rome, I and my life partner lived in one of the holiday flats in the “Villa Garden” for 4 years with our daughters born in 2007 and 2010, 4 cats and a dog. For us, the place was like a little paradise, away from the hustle and bustle that floods the coast in the summer months and with a swimming pool that our children loved as a change from the beach and the sea. The owner, who has many Italian holidaymakers in July and August, is happy to have Northern European guests in the low season. So even after our move to the big city, I still have this small complex in my programme. Villa Garden” is the ideal place for holidays with children who want to get away from the big city and enjoy the healthy Calabrian sea and country air, and for people who need peace and quiet surrounded by beautiful nature. Four-legged friends are also welcome by arrangement.

All prices are weekly. The price includes water, electricity and gas consumption and final cleaning. Air conditioning (available in almost all flats): € 35,00 / week.
On request you can get bed linen and towels from the owner for € 10,00/person/change.
A deposit of € 100,00 is required upon arrival.
You are welcome to bring your four-legged friend by arrangement: Costs € 20,00 / week.
