The Case Torre Marino are located just 5 minutes by car south of Santa Domenica di Ricadi, about 3 km from Tropea on the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria.
The beach next to your holiday bungalow: Torre Marino is one of the most beautiful beaches on the coast, with white sand as well as rocks for snorkelling. The beach has a free area where you can bring your towel, umbrella and beach chairs. If you like you can rent beach chairs and an umbrella in one of the two beach bars. The beach bars are open from about mid-May to October. All day long you can enjoy small sacks, as well as lunch and dinner, coffee and ice-cream.
Santa Domenica is a quiet little village where you find everything necessary for your vacation. Especially the small bakery on the Corso, which is a bit hidden, offers delicious freshly baked bread, small mini pizzas and ciabatta with olives in the morning. In the middle of the village you find a well-stocked supermarket and in front of it there is a small store with a nice selection of wines and the local specialties, `Nduja (hot sausage paste), cheese etc. Two big supermarkets are just before Santa Domenica coming from your vacation bungalows. In the central “piazza” you can choose between two pasticcerias and I can also recommend Bar Mazcalzone. Here you can drink your cappuccino in the morning or enjoy an aperitif in the evening. On Mondays there is the weekly market, where you can buy fresh vegetables, fruits, cheese and sausages but also clothes, household goods and flowers. Santa Domenica has a post office, a pharmacy, a bank and a petrol station as well as a selection of restaurants. There is also a train station in Santa Domenica. The small regional train costs almost nothing and drives you from Lamezia Terme to Rosarno and stops in all the pretty coastal towns such. Pizzo, Nicotera, Parghelia, Zambrone etc.
The beaches and bays between Santa Domenica and Capo Vaticano are among the most beautiful in Calabria. By car, numerous other beautiful bays can be reached in just a few minutes from your holiday home.
The most beautiful view of the sea and the sunset behind the Aeolian Islands you have directly across from the property of the apartments. Torre Marino was originally part of a Saracen fortification. From the tower (torre), the tower guard was able to early make out enemy attackers from the sea and give warning signals. Today, the place with the old tower is picturesque, as if time had stood still. You are high above the sea and from here you can enjoy the most beautiful sunsets and watch the regular eruptions on the volcanic island of Stromboli.
Only 3 km away is the old noble town of Tropea also know as the perle of Calabria. Beautiful beaches stretch along several bays. The old town of Tropea is criss-crossed by small, narrow streets on which the loud and typical southern Italian life takes place. Numerous shops invite you to stroll and shop and a wide range of restaurants offer you the specialties of the region. The Norman cathedral of Tropea and also the numerous aristocratic palaces in the old town with their beautiful portals are of historical interest. "Isola Bella" (beautiful island) with its beautiful chapel can be admired during an aperitif in the sunset from one of the viewing terraces Tropea. It is worth visiting it and make the little path and some hundred of stairs uphill. You have an amazing view of Tropea and the complete coast.
